The Neighbors food shelf serves more than 500 families a month and provides every family with a week’s worth of food on each visit. On average, Neighbors distributes 750,000 pounds of food each year. In an effort to provide a nutritious assortment of food, the food shelf conducts a Nutrition Study at least once a year.

Key Activities

  • Introduce yourself and briefly describe the study and its purpose to clients.
  • Follow along with clients and record food items on a clipboard as they are put in the cart.
  • Optional: Work with Food Programs Manager to compile and analyze data.
  • Optional: Make recommendations about how to encourage healthy eating.
  • Other food shelf tasks as needed (stocking, sorting, etc.).
