About Field Trips:

The Ranch will host field trips for special needs classes and support groups, support organizations, group homes, as well as youth-at-risk camps and organizations. These visitors will have the opportunity to interact with our various small animals in our Critter Cabin (hedgehogs, rabbits, chinchillas, tortoise), meet one of our horses up close, and our other barn friends (the goats, miniature pot-bellied pigs, miniature longhorn and miniature donkey). The visitors will will learn about the animals' habitats, diets, care needs, and characteristics of different species. Visitors will also explore our nature trail with our miniature horses to observe the wonders of nature and find hidden treasures through guided activities.

Volunteer Summary:

Volunteers must be 16 years or older, team driven, comfortable in social settings, and enjoy being outdoors. The role of a volunteer will include (not limited too) helping set up for the field trip and then assist with arts/crafts, snack time, animal handling, and guiding our visitors through their fun Ranch experience. Volunteers will report to Tannis Lambert, Director of Educational Programs and assist her throughout the Field Trip Event.

Days and Times:

Most Field Trips are scheduled on Wednesday mornings and occasional Friday mornings. Volunteers should be available for at least 3 dates each season and available for typically a 5 hour commitment per day.

How to Get Involved:

Description

Paws for Reflection Ranch is a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation on 15 acres in Midlothian which partners with animals in the healing process along side counselors, educators, and horse professionals. The animal partners include horses, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, chinchillas, hedgehogs, a tortoise, and a parrot. Volunteers are an essential part of the Paws for Reflection Ranch team. Volunteers help take care of the animals, assist with program activities and/or events for individuals with special needs. Paws for Reflection Ranch is open Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays.
