Suncoast Kids Place will be hosting Camp Erin Tampa Bay which is a free, weekend bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and make friends with peers who are also grieving.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be in good physical condition. Volunteers need to be able to meet a national background check, participate in an orientation interview, attend volunteer training, and any relevant meetings.

What does volunteering look like?
Volunteers should expect to be on the move from 7:00 AM - midnight. Flexibility is key to all volunteer roles. Volunteers should be role models for the campers. They should provide comfort and support while participating with the campers through the camp activities. Most importantly we ask volunteers to create a positive, fun, and energetic atmosphere for the campers.

About Suncoast Kids Place

Location:

17030 Lakeshore Road, Lutz, FL 33558, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Center is to provide support for children/teens from 3-18 years of age and their families, who have experienced the death of a significant person...as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Description

Suncoast Kids Place is founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment. However, our society fails to understand or support the needs of a child and family in grief. We offer ongoing grief support for the death of a significant person. Families are invited to join our organization at any point after the death and can stay with us as long as they desire. Our groups range in age from 3-18 years old and their caregiver. In addition to our peer support groups we also are able to offer a once a year weekend camp called Camp Erin.
