ORGANIZATION: St. Francis Neighborhood Center

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

With the official start of spring only a few weeks away, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), St. Francis Neighborhood Center, and Reservoir Hill Improvement Council are prepared to support our residents’ springtime cleaning and greening efforts.

Make sure that your community is ready to shine in the weeks ahead by participating in the Mayor's Spring Cleanup. Baltimore City residents, neighborhoods, and civic groups can sign up by calling 311. An annual tradition, this year’s Spring Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents participating in the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup can earn credits toward their stormwater fee. Certificates and forms for the stormwater credit can be picked up by registrants when they come to collect bags for their cleanups.

Mission Statement

St. Francis Neighborhood Center is committed to breaking the cycles of poverty through education, inspiring self-esteem, self-improvement, and strengthening connections to the community.

Description

St. Francis Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), community based organization in the Reservoir Hill area of Baltimore. Founded in 1963 as an outreach center for two local churches, the Center was incorporated in 1972 as a neighborhood nonprofit corporation, independent of any church affiliation. Since its inception, the Center has served as a cornerstone for community life for residents to meet, discuss, and to improve the quality of individual and communal life in Reservoir Hill. St. Francis' presence has served as a resource and catalyst for improving the lives of those in Reservoir Hill, and making Baltimore a better place.

Our programs create an approach that builds self-esteem, personal strength, academic, emotional, interpersonal, social, and community development that work to address complex challenges in an effort to break through the cycles of urban poverty. St. Francis Neighborhood Center offers Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, personal counseling, community mediation, Peace Patrol walks, Community Library, Computer Lab, pot luck dinners, and an annual Health/Resource Fair. In an average month, we serve over 300 adults, youth, and families. All of our current programs, services, and events are free to the public.
