The Penns Creek Senior Center (Penns Creek Adult Resource Center) is a warm and welcoming place which provides meals, activities, special events, health and wellness programs, and resource information/education to local senior citizens who are age 60+. The center is open Monday through Friday during daytime hours, and is seeking someone to assist with general kitchen/dining area duties (i.e. light lifting (5-10 pounds), simple prep/cooking, serving, clean-up, etc.). Kitchen/dining area assistance would generally be needed 10am to 1pm each day. Whether you can help one-day-per-week or three or five, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with some fantastic people and enjoy being a part of this very active and fun senior center!

Please contact Chris Erb, Penns Creek Senior Center Manager, for more information at 570-837-6200, or cerb@usaaa17.org.

Criminal background checks and completion of agency volunteer paperwork are required.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure the rights of older adults within Union & Snyder counties to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives in their own homes and communities, make informed decisions concerning their care, and stay active and productive for as long as possible.

Description

The Union-Snyder Area Agency on Aging began in June 1974 as a two-county public agency under the direct control of the Union and Snyder County Boards of Commissioners. Since that time, it has served as the primary agency for developing and providing services for persons sixty and over in Union and Snyder counties.

In September, of 2003, the two Boards of Commissioners asked the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to consider the redesignation of the public AAA to a new private, not-for-profit board. The major reasons for this request were to expand community involvement on all levels and allow the agency to access additional funding sources.

In March 2004, after two public hearings and other fact-finding efforts, the Secretary of Aging approved the request. Beginning July 1, 2004, the Union-Snyder Agency on Aging, Inc. became one of 17 private not-for-profit Area Agencies on Aging in Pennsylvania.
