Record numbers of visitors are enjoying the Norton Museum of Art. You can be part of their experience by becoming a docent!

Docents are specially trained volunteers who enable Museum visitors of all ages to enjoy the Norton Collection and special exhibitions through age-appropriate, interactive tours.

You do not need to have an art background to apply for the docent program - we will teach you! All you need are excellent communication skills, an enthusiasm for exploring and learning about works of art, and a desire to promote art's ability to engage, surprise and illuminate.

Docent candidates participate in an intense training program before becoming eligible to be a docent.

Initial training takes place on Wednesdays, 1-4pm, from October 16 through December 18, 2019, and resumes January 8 through March 25, 2020.

Candidates will also meet with veteran docents and Museum staff for additional training.

Full-time Florida residents preferred.

The deadline to apply to the docent program is Friday, May 17, 2019.

Finalists for the docent program will be invited to participate in an informal interview.

Notification of acceptance is August 1, 2019.
