The Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center is currently seeking Volunteer Junior Naturalists for Summer Bay Camp. If you enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment, this could be a great opportunity for you to fulfill community service requirements or gain experience in environmental education and leadership. Bay Camp focuses on learning about salt marshes, wetlands, marine ecology, and estuary habitats of the San Francisco Bay. Campers hike to the Bay and discover the mudflats, rocky shore, and pickleweed marshes.
Activities include catching (and releasing) fish in the marsh, bird watching, working with microscopes, craft activities, and outdoor and indoor games. The Junior Naturalist’s job is to assist the naturalists with all phases of the weekly activities. There are thirteen camp sessions, each is one week and varies from three to five hours. Camp runs from June 24 through August 16, 2019. Must be able to volunteer at least 2 weeks of summer camp.
If you are interested in applying to become a Junior Naturalist please call (510) 670-7270 or email shoreline@ haywardrec.org to request an application. You may also download an application here: https://www.haywardrec.org/DocumentCenter/View/6179/2019-JN-Application---District-Bay-Camp
