Are you arts or music minded? We are looking for Studio Assistants for our Healing Arts Program!
The Healing Arts Program provides our young people with a non-judgemental space where youth can express themselves through physical media like paint, watercolors, wire wrapping and drawing. We also have programming in graphic design and music production.
This is a very important space for our youth, and is often the first program that youth will access at our center, so having volunteers to support us in running the space is vital.
Volunteers aid in the organization of the space, help youth access the supplies they need, ensure that youth are signing in and most importantly help maintain the sense of calm and healing in the space while engaging directly with the youth.
You can read more about our organization on our website: www.safeplaceforyouth.org

About Safe Place for Youth
Location:
2469 Lincoln Blvd., VENICE, CA 90291, US
Mission Statement
To empower young people experiencing homelessness to thrive by providing lasting, community-driven solutions that address racial and social inequity.
Description
It is estimated there are approximately 9.000 homeless youth living in the Los Angeles area, with 100% of them without shelter each night on the Westside of Los Angeles.... Safe Place for Youth believes these harsh realities are unacceptable and we are committed to advocating for these youth and helping them in any way possible. We provide services and support for homeless youth and those who are at risk of becoming homeless by addressing basic human needs through a "safe haven" atmosphere of hope and concern. SPY provides three core areas of service provision; Drop-in Center, Case Management and Street Outreach. The majority of our organization is on a volunteer basis; operating on donations of time, funds and goods.
SPY is dedicated to providing a safe and pleasant environment that will allow youth to relax, escape the dangers of the streets, and just spend some time being themselves. We offer Drop-In hours Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 am - 5 pm where youth can access case management, pregnancy & parenting, educational & employment and health & dental services, a hot meal, the internet and a variety of art classes. We also have street outreach where we engage in youth on the streets and introduce them to SPY.CAUSE AREAS
