Safe Kids Worldwide is a global nonprofit organization founded in 1988 by Children's National Medical Center with a mission of preventing unintentional childhood injury, a leading cause of death and disability for children 1-19. Since its founding, Safe Kids Worldwide has contributed to a 55% reduction in U.S. child fatality rate from unintentional injury.
Safe Kids Thurston County was founded in 1997 with the same mission. Safe Kids Thurston County programs and initiatives combine education, awareness, environmental changes, and safety device distribution in local communities. Safe Kids Thurston County is a program of the Child Care Action Council.
Our "Swim Into Summer Safety Fair" will be held at McLane Black-Lake Fire Station and Discover Aquatics in Olympia. We are partnering with various community groups and businesses to provide free, fun family safety education and activities. We are looking for volunteers to help support this event in multiple ways.
What: Fire station Smoke House ushers, pedestrian safety crosswalk volunteers, and parking lot assistants.
Where: McLane Black Lake Fire Department: 125 Delphi Road NW Olympia, 98502
and Discover Aquatics: 110 Delphi Road NW Olympia, 98502
When: Saturday, June 22 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Volunteer shifts from 1-3:00 p.m. or 3-5:00 p.m.

The Child Care Action Council was founded in 1987 by a group of parents, child care professionals, employers, school & government representatives and other community members concerned about the inadequacies of our community's child care system.
CCAC currently serves parents & providers in Thurston, Grays Harbor, Mason, Kitsap, Jefferson and Clallam counties.
Our mission is to promote and nurture early learning communities where families and children thrive.
To accomplish these goals, CCAC:
- Responds each year to thousands of families needing childcare.
- Educates parents in evaluating the quality of their child's care.
- Offers a variety of training opportunities for child care professionals.
- Helps to create new child care programs to fill unmet needs.
- Cooperates and encourages businesses to address their employees' child care needs.
- Advocates for children and families on a state, local and federal level.
