Qualifications for Safe Sitter Instructors:
- Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have 2 years of experience in health care, child care (including parenting), or youth work
- Enjoy teaching young teens and being a role model
- Be able to pass a background check
The training is online and takes about 4 hours to complete. We like to have the person sit in on a class as well for training before doing one on their own. Training time will be ~12 hours (4 online computer hours & 8 practice/viewing training). The online training needs to be completed in 4 weeks of receiving a link for access to the training & does not have to be done in one sitting.

Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older unless volunteering for the teen department or as a part of the family volunteer program (2nd grade and up).

- Instructors need to be available from 9:30-5:30 (~8 hrs.) Summer (June – August - Tu, Wed &Th): 2 classes = 16 hrs. Fall (September – December - Sat): 1 class = 8 hrs. Spring (January – April – Sat): 1 class = 8 hrs.
