Healing Care Hospice is proud to be a part of the "We Honor Veterans" Program, a collaboration between the VA and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Healing Care Hospice is seeking Veteran military personnel to become a part of our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program providing visitation to home-bound and/or bed-bound terminally ill patients.

Veteran Hospice Volunteers are key components to our Hospice care plan as they solely provide companionship, a unique shared language and experience to our patients.

Veteran volunteers have a unique ability to create rapport and support Veterans who are at the end of their road. Veteran volunteers do not perform any hands-on care, but may assist with:

- Providing companionship to Veteran patients
- Conversation, story-telling and listening
- Facilitating life review
- Playing cards/board games
- Helping with letter writing
- Providing respite for caregivers
- Participating in Veteran pinning ceremonies
- Assisting in replacing lost medals

Veterans volunteers must be Veterans. A Veteran is defined as a person who has served in a military force. Veteran volunteers must have a professional appearance, maintain good health, respect patients' confidentiality, and be reliable, honest, dedicated and flexible.

*Veteran volunteers must be aware and understanding of special circumstances/situations regarding patients, families and caregivers.

If you have a few free hours a week and a desire to have an impact in someone else's remaining time, please consider applying today! No previous experience is needed; we will providing specialized training. We openly welcome you to join our team and touch the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. Apply today, become a hero tomorrow!
