Mission Statement

To enrich the developmental skills and lives of children with disabilities through animal-assisted and natured-based experiences. The Barn strives to be the leading, regional organization and resource committed to providing children with disabilities and their families a nurturing and interactive, animal and nature-based experience that brings joy and inspires them to pursue their best lives.

Description

The Barn at Spring Brook Farm is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located on a 17-acre farm in West Chester, PA. Our organization offers programs for children with special needs and their families. We serve children ages 2-12 with physical, cognitive and/or developmental disabilities. With a strong focus on animal-assisted activities and connecting with the world through nature-based experiences, we strive to enrich the developmental lives of children with disabilities and create a caring, supportive community for kids and their families. To our knowledge, we are the only organization to offer these unique services in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

At The Barn we serve children of varying abilities. We focus on recognizing their strengths and maximizing their potential. The Barn is a place where children can just be children. They can have fun in a safe environment while working towards their personal goals. Our programs help children set and achieve goals that complement their learning at school, in outside therapies and in their home life by providing animal-assisted and nature-based experiences to establish new, nurturing and fun experiences for the children.

The true stars of the show here at The Barn are the fabulous horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens, a bunny, a hilarious pig, and a sweetheart of a cat! These animals, the property, and the kindness of so many volunteers truly helps to allow our kids to become even more magnificent versions of themselves. Be a part of something meaningful and volunteer today!
