POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Engagement Team works with volunteers throughout various programs within
Second Harvest Heartland to help build capacity through volunteerism. With the many volunteer opportunities we
provide comes an influx of information that needs to be organized on a consistent basis. This position will assist thedepartment in maintaining the volunteer service database (CiviCore) by entering in volunteer hours, scanning and attaching documents, uploading CSVs, and general data entry and data clean-up. Many of our more than 28,000 annual volunteers come to us through large volunteer shifts, and there are multiple data management and migration steps to follow. This volunteer position will provide important capacity building support!
DUTIES:
- Assist with database clean-up projects, including merging duplicate records, updating volunteer data, and/or removing inaccurate data
- Input data from various sources (including CSV spreadsheets) into database (training provided)
- Work between systems that interface with CiviCore (Luminate Online & BlackBaud CRM) to ensure data is accurate across all systems
- Register volunteers to assigned shifts and in CiviCore
- Scan volunteer documents, retrieve them and upload to CiviCore
- Assign hours to a volunteer in CiviCore
- Additional tasks or projects as they arise or based on volunteer’s skills, interests, and time availability
- Fluency in basic computer literacy, web-browsing, and Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience with data entry, databases, or customer relationship management systems is preferred
- Ability to navigate between multiple computer programs at the same time
- Ability to sit at computer desk and enter data for 3 hours straight
- Well-organized and strong attention to detail
- Reliability, punctuality and accountability
- Moderate mobility to move between filing drawers, computer, and scanner
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Background check: Volunteers in this position work closely with vulnerable populations and are exposed to sensitive client information. Second Harvest Heartland will be conducting criminal background checks for all volunteers in this position. Second Harvest Heartland reserves the right to refuse to work with a volunteer, or dismiss a current volunteer, based on the results of the background check.
- Total time requirement: 6-month minimum commitment, once a week shift (3-4 hours/shift)
- Project Start date: As soon as possible
- Days of the week: Flexible based on volunteer preference (M-F)
- Time of the day: 3 hours within office hours 8:00am-4:00pm
- Work site: Brooklyn Park or Maplewood
