Opportunity 1: Migration Celebration on Saturday April 27th
This event will run Saturday morning from 9am-12:00pm and is meant to celebrate the return of our spring birds in Minnesota. The event is free and will include tabled activities throughout the nature center about bird banding, owls, crafts, bird bio-facts, and will conclude with an interpretive program from the UMN Raptor Center featuring live birds.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the following tables:
-Crafts table (1 volunteer)
-Leading a bird hike (1 volunteer)
-Greeting/Counting how many guests come to the event (1 volunteer)
-Tools of Birding table feat. binoculars/spotting scope (1 volunteer)
Volunteers will be asked to arrive around 8:30 am to get checked in and set up at stations. Then, plan to be finished around 12:15 pm after cleaning up your station! Opportunity 2: Environmental Fun Fair Saturday May 4th 10 AM-2 PM
This event is a collaboration between Springbrook, the City of Fridley and Anoka County 4H. This free public event will be a mix of activities including environmental organizations in an exhibit area, interactive outdoor activities, and a Fix-It Clinic. For more info check out the attached flyer! We would love some help hosting the following stations:
- Pond dipping (catching bugs at square floating dock) - 2 volunteers
- Forest Floor exploring - 1 volunteer
- Renewable Energy Village (includes solar cooking, solar car activity, pinwheel/wind craft, training provided!) - 1-2 volunteers
- Bird Feeder making station - 1 volunteer
