We are developing 3 - 5 two person teams in Thornton and the surrounding cities to present older persons with the information they should know in advance to be prepared in case of natural or man-made disasters.
Senior Hub's Outreach Department (SHOUT) is working with the City of Thornton Emergency Manager, Thornton Fire Department and a planning team to prepare a workbook and other materials using the most current guides from local and national sources. The presentation team members will be trained to give presentation using these materials and to answer questions from those attending each presentation.
We anticipate beginning the introductory training in early Fall, but need to find the volunteers now who will be members of the presentation teams. Training will be provided when we are ready to begin.
We anticipate doing the presentations for senior groups at churches, mobile home parks, senior centers, fraternal organizations, senior housing areas, and by request from other organizations and individuals.
