Great opportunity for a licensed carpenter to help a non-profit arts organization create a functional pop up gallery in a vibrant family centered arts community in Brooklyn. Ideal position for experienced carpenter or design firm donate in-kind serves to an established arts institution with a proven 29-year history of serving artists in the areas of visual art, literature and film. We have a design plan as a sample for the project. Start your 2021 giving back!

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

* Be a professional licensed carpenter or design firm with insurance including workers comp.

* Follow social distancing and COVID-19 guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

* Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, and other staff members to execute the project to build a shelving and storage system for a small space.

* Must have experience and submit work samples.

* Ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self driven and creative. Must be punctual and reliable. Work out a schedule to complete the project.

African Voices Communications, Inc is a non-profit arts organization devoted to supporting art, literature and film by artists of color.

Description

Founded in 1992, the organization publishes a national literary magazine and sponors community programs for emerging artists including literary readings, writers conferences and workshops, a film festival for women of color and other events. African Voices runs the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series and Get Your Read On!, an arts literacy program for young people in low income communities.
