Forensic Services Volunteer Position Summary-

  • Provide a child-friendly environment for children before and after their interview, including purposeful play and appropriate interactions with others in the Forensic Service area.
  • Maintaining and at times running the reception area.
  • Answering doors and phone calls.
  • Clerical work as needed.
  • Duties for our forensic services opportunity include greeting families as they come in, checking in clients, and playing with children in a safe and comfortable setting. Apply your skills to other projects as needed and desired!

Time Commitment:

  • One shift per week required
  • 6-month commitment desired
  • Various shifts available: Monday Afternoons, Wednesday Afternoons, Thursday Afternoons, and Friday Morning

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  1. Must be over 18 years of age.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with children of ALL ages.
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong interpersonal boundaries.
  4. Comply with all program policies and procedures of CornerHouse.
  5. Ability to work closely with staff.

2 Shifts

  • 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM CST - FULL
    Morning Shift
  • afternoon / 12:30 PM to 04:30 PM CST - FULL
    Afternoon Shift

Description

CornerHouse is a great community resource that is on the frontlines of child abuse; assuring that the voices of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults are heard. CornerHouse is also valued as an industry resource; teaching and sharing best practices, observations, and techniques in forensic interviewing.

Founded in 1989, CornerHouse is anaccredited Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) that coordinates multi-disciplinary teams to assist each child and family and offers services that are designed to minimize trauma to child victims of abuse, to provide support and assistance to the entire family, and to hold offenders accountable.

CornerHouse was founded as a private, non-profit organization in public-private partnership with Hennepin County Attorney's Office, the Minneapolis Police Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department, suburban Hennepin County police departments, Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department, Hennepin County Medical Center and Children's Hospitals and Clinics-Minneapolis.
