ORGANIZATION: Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra, Inc.

The board of the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra sets the policies, manages the Music Director and other staff, oversees the budget, raises the funds to meet the budget, and makes sure the organization is in compliance with all laws pertaining to nonprofits in Massachusetts.
The board meets 4 times each year - usually on Sunday evenings. Each board member is also expected to serve on at least one committee. Board members are ambassadors for the Orchestra in the greater Metrowest area, promoting the concerts and soliciting donations.

The Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to performing baroque, classical, romantic and contemproary music of the standard repertory, as well as light popular and jazz pieces. It is dedicated to meeting the cultural, educational and social needs of the citizens of the greater Waltham area.

Description

Thw Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra is a community group of volunteer musicians drawing from the Metrowest area of Boston. The group rehearses 1/wk and performs 3 regular concerts, 2 pops and 1 jazz concert each year.

  • Board meetings are usually ~1.5 hrs per quarter. Committee service time depends upon the committee; some work can be done independently. Board members are also expected to attend the 4 concerts given each year - about 9 hrs total.
