Become a volunteer Docent at the Olivas Adobe.
Everyone has different skills and talents, and we appreciate them all - you may help in the rose and herb gardens, guide tours w storytelling (great for theater artists), work in the gift shop, write the newsletter, get antique items and other donations for raffles and our giftshop, do fundraising, social media, genealogy of the Olivas family and their descendants, help plan or dress up from our antique clothes closet to staff many events such as Music Under the Stars, Rancho Days and the Owl Festival, or teach an old time craft to students and kids, anything you want to do.

Mission Statement
The Olivas Adobe is Ventura County's only remaining Monterey-style adobe home from the Rancho era (1840s). It opened as a museum in 1974 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 (No 115). While the City of Ventura now owns the Olivas Adobe through its Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Partnerships, some events and maintanence are the responsibility of the OAHI (Olivas Adobe Historical Interpreters), the organization of Olivas Adobe volunteer docents. The mission of the OAHI is to interpret and preserve, in collaboration w the City of Ventura, the history and heritage of the Olivas family and Rancho San Miguel as part of the Rancho Period of California hisotry.
Description
By becoming an OAHI docent, you will be helping to celebrate Ventura’s Rancho and Latino heritage, and also maintaining the beautiful Olivas Adobe museum and grounds. Volunteer opportunities are many. A few worth mentioning - conducting weekend tours, seasonal school educational outreach programs or dressing up and working events such as Music Under the Stars, Rancho Days, the Owl Festival and Holiday Candlelight Tours.
Thank you for helping us to maintain history and culture at the Olivas Adobe Historical Park.

- Mtgs once a month. For Active and Associate Members we would like attendance to at least 6 mtgs and 3 events, but there is no minimum for Friends or Sustaining Members.
- $10 yearly dues and a nominal initiation fee.
