The purpose of the YMCA of San Francisco Thingamajig (r) Invention Convention is to:
- Collaborate with leading organizations to introduce and expose kids to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), nutrition, active play and going green
- Stimulate the creativity and curiosity of kids in a nurturing environment that will help them develop self-confidence and healthy habits
- Create Opportunities for strategic thinking, creative expression and a bright future
- Validate, recognize and reinforce hard work, determination, creativity and collaboration
- Elevate the importance of educational and physical enrichment during the summer months
There are many ways to get involved! We are currently looking for individuals or organizations to present to the campers, run booths/activities during the event, or donate supplies, prizes, or time. We will need 100 volunteers to help with setting up and cleaning up the venue, serving as guest judges for the Invention Competitions, as well as running activity stations. The Y is able to provide ideas for activity stations, but we welcome the input of ideas, supplies, and activities that are specific to you and your skills! This is a great opportunity for youth in our programs to have access to tools and equipment they may not otherwise get to engage with like robotics, coding, etc. Join us for the YMCA of San Francisco's 5th annual Thingamajig(r) Invention Convention!
