Mission Statement

We are a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to assist the Tinker Nature Park/Hansen Nature Center with environmental education, nature interpretation and preservation of its natural resources. We provide support by: a) Furnishing auxiliary services and materials b) Developing and providing resources that will aid in the fulfillment of these objectives c) Formulating and participating in fundraising activities d) Judiciously managing the funds raised.

Description

In 1991, John and Carol Aldridge donated 68 acres of the Tinker family's farm to the Town of Henrietta. This land was developed as the Town's nature park. In 1994, Henry Hansen made possible the building which became the Hansen Nature Center. In 1998, he provided the funds for an addition which doubled the Nature Center's size. Also located on the Tinker Nature Park is the Tinker Homestead and Farm Museum. The museum depicts family life at the turn of the 20th century.
Tinker Nature Park and the Hansen Nature Center offer a variety of outdoor environmental education classes for the public. Programs taking place at the park focus on plants and animals, habitat study, or a unique honey bee program. Programs are also offered for small groups, scouts, and tours of the Tinker Homestead. The Nature Center also hosts monthly special events from April through December including our Earth Day Celebration, Ice Cream Social, and our Holiday Events.
