ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina

Public Policy volunteers Help improve the quality of care and quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by carrying our message to elected officials at the federal, state and local levels. Communicate with elected officials via petitions, phone calls and other calls-to-action, participate in area events, and share your story. Political experience is not required, and we will assign you to elected officials based on where you live and your interests.

ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION AMBASSADORS serve as the main point of in-district contact for a targeted member of Congress, helping the Alzheimer's Association achieve its federal policy priorities. They develop trusted relationships with their assigned congressional office through ongoing, personal contacts, drawing upon proven techniques and the support of Association National and Chapter staff. Ambassadors perform a number of grassroots advocacy activities that include periodic in-district meetings with elected officials, attendance at the annual Alzheimer's Association Advocacy Forum in Washington D.C., written and online communication with elected officials, participation in monthly calls & training sessions, and outreach to local media outlets.
