About DOCK ELLIS FOUNDATION INC

Location:

304 S. Jones, LAS VEGAS, NV 89128, US

Mission Statement

The Dock Ellis Foundation’s mission is to uplift minority communities by uniting missing persons with their loved ones. We hold the belief that safety and having a voice are rights belonging to everyone, no matter their background or economic status. Our dedication lies in offering heartfelt support and crucial resources to families and individuals facing the challenges of crime and violence.

Description

In the ever-evolving landscape of societal challenges, certain names shine brightly, resonating with hope, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to justice. The Dock Ellis Foundation is one such beacon, named in honor of the legendary Dock Ellis, an iconic figure in the world of sports and a staunch advocate for social justice. His spirit of unyielding determination and courageous advocacy has inspired the formation of this foundation, which has been a lifeline for countless minority families navigating the dangerous waters of crisis and uncertainty

In 2020, 543,018 people were reported missing in the United States. Black people make up only about 13% of the American population, yet almost one third of the people reported missing were Black. This reveals how Black communities are affected by this issue disproportionately.

There are simply not enough resources, compassion or attention on our missing black and brown women, men and children. Most importantly there isn't enough support for the children devastated by a parent that has unwillingly vanishing. Many families are dealing with lack of cultural awareness or competency by the entities they rely on to help, lack of sensitivity to victims and their families, poor or nonexistent communication with families, preconceived judgment for families with criminal records and survivors, chronic lack of cases being brought to justice.
