Organizational Impact:

As a Perry’s Place adoptions assistant, you play an important role in helping cats and kittens find forever homes and families. Volunteers assist the adoptions team with processing contracts and completing the adoption experience at offsite adoptions events.


Core responsibilities:

  • Set-up and tear-down of all supplies and materials (tables, cages, flyers) used for adoption event.
  • Working with the event itself and engaging with potential adopters.
  • Transport of cats to and from event may also be involved.
  • Potentially execute adoptions (with approval and Level I standing) and handle adoption fees and donation transactions via tablets.

Qualifications/Requirement:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Completion of general sanctuary orientation
  • Be able to lift up to 25 lbs; on occasion, up to 40lbs
  • Knowledge and understanding of Perry’s Place adoption policies and procedures, including the use of Shelterluv for Level I volunteers (you will be trained!)
  • Enjoy the experience of meeting and interacting with the general public
  • Be prepared for a fair amount of lifting and standing
  • Must be comfortable handling cats
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

Mission Statement

Heaven on Earth, founded in 2000, envisions the day when there are no more homeless pets in the Los Angeles area. Our programs and events are aimed to rescue cats most at risk for euthanasia and to raise awareness in Los Angeles and beyond.

Description

We fulfill our mission by:

  • The Perry MacFarlane Sanctuary, our Cage-free, No-kill Facility. Cats who are with us temporarily awaiting adoption as well as longer-term residents receive quality care and lots of love at our North Hollywood sanctuary, known affectionately as Perry’s Place.
  • Adoption Program. Mobile adoption events are held each weekend at several area pet stores, and we host adoption visits at Perry’s Place as well.
  • SpayShip Transport Service. Working in conjunction with local spay/neuter clinics, SpayShip provides free transportation and trapping assistance for community and companion cats in targeted San Fernando Valley zip codes.
  • Community Outreach. Referral, guidance, support and humane education are central to everything we do, and while we cannot rescue every cat in need, we do respond to each inquiry we receive from people seeking to help them.
