Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!

Naples Historical Society is the Central Voice of Naples History

Historic Palm Cottage is the Portal to Naples history!

Our biggest need now for volunteers is for docents for our Pupils at Palm Cottage(tm) program.

Help children understand the history of their own community...History isn’t only for the mature audience!

Pupils at Palm Cottage(tm) is a FREE field trip for our local 4th and 5th grade students. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic Pupils docents teach students about where their city’s history began at the Portal to Naples History, Historic Palm Cottage!

In addition to the tour, each student receives an activity book filled with games, puzzles, and quizzes that help further facilitate learning about Naples history, their history!

Classes also have the opportunity to visit our beautiful Norris Gardens, as well as the Naples Pier and the beach if they chose.

Pupils at Palm Cottage(tm) docents volunteer mostly during the school year, but there are often opportunities in the summer as well. Pupils at Palm Cottage(tm) are scheduled and held upon request on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

All docents must attend a volunteer orientation as well as fill out all required forms.

New docents will have the opportunity to train and shadow experienced docents. We rely on a proven Veteran & Rookie System of Instruction for everyone.

Mission Statement

The Central Voice of Naples History. Preserve Naples history, one member, one tour, one child, one party, one event at a time!

Give the gift of time at Naples Historical Society! Hundreds of others have done so. Friendships
are made while volunteering. Productive, like-minded conversations easily flow. Professional
staff involvement keeps our volunteers well informed and inspired. There are many ways to get
involved and enjoy your time while helping to preserve Naples’ past.
Naples Historical Society is dedicated to preserving Naples history and heritage for our
community and future generations to enjoy. The Society owns and operates Historic Palm
Cottage(tm) (a Landmark listed in the National Register of Historic Places, built in 1895), The Norris
Gardens at Palm Cottage, and Administration & Archives (a 1910 contributing structure nestled
in the Naples Historic District). We manage over five preservation initiatives and 10 educational programs throughout the year,
plus we hold many events. This is only the tip of the iceberg...we need your help!
Bring a spouse or friend to an upcoming volunteer orientation and learn more. It costs nothing
to attend and there is no obligation. We hold orientations twice a month throughout the year.
Call for information and decide after the orientation if or how you wish to volunteer your
valuable time. Thank you for your interest.
