Horses4Heroes

Volunteers, 16 and older (experience with horses helpful, not required), are needed to lead horses, supervise play areas and barnyard, and welcome guests during Open Barn hours. Our mission is to make horseback riding affordable for, and accessible to those in our community whose Call of Duty is to protect and serve, including Active Duty service members, veterans, First Responders, school teachers, nurses and their families. We also serve veterans with PTS/MST/TBI, domestic violence victims, recovering addicts, at-risk youth and others who need a hand up, not a hand out.l

Description

Las Vegas-based Horses4Heroes is the only national non-profit that owns its own horses and uses those horses every day in programs to empower, engage, inspire, educate and enterain. The non-profit operates the Horses4Heroes Community Equestrian Center, located within historic Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. Here we give lessons, hold camps, host birthday parties, special events, Girl Scouts and more. We serve all ages from 2 to adult.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • Volunteer shifts are 4 hours, weekends 9 to 1 or 1 to 5. Hours will shift as it gets warmer.
  • Able to walk and lead horses, help riders on and off horses, likes working with kids and farm animals.
