Granny's Garden School (non Profit) is an outdoor, hands on education program teaching 1st-4th grades 'life science' lessons in our garden and nature trail. We do this in partnership with local school districts and as a supplement to classroom curriculum. We deliver 30 min lessons in the Spring and Fall growing seasons during the school day. Lesson Plans on a wide variety of topics are available for your use (e.g., planting, how do earthworms live, how soil composition affects plant growth, what is a plants life cycle, properties of soil, how light affects plant growth, seeds and the environment, etc.) This is an ideal opportunity for retired teachers, non working teachers looking for a flexible opportunity, people passionate and knowledgeable about gardening, nutrition, farming, nature or any life science. Flexible lesson scheduling based on your availability in the 9:30-3 school hours. You can schedule to deliver one lesson per week, several back to back on a day, or random days during each season. Time commitment includes your preparation, communication with teachers who have signup for your class, delivery and cleanup. Classroom teacher stay with their class during the learning time. Background check will be required. Some paid opportunities available with submitted proposal. Classes held indoors in case of inclement weather.
