What is a BioBlitz?
'Bio’ means 'life’ and 'Blitz’ means 'to do something quickly and intensively’. Together they make 'BioBlitz’, a collaborative race against the clock to discover as many species of plants, animals and fungi as possible, within a set location, over a defined time period - in our case 2 hours. No prior experience is necessary to participate. This is a great volunteer activity for families with children.
We will be using the iNaturalist app on our phones to record what we find. The app is free to download and use, available online through the IPhone App Store or Google Play stores. The project url is https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/self-guided-walk-along-coyote-creek-montegue-expressway-to-highway-237.
The BioBlitz location is the West bank of Coyote Creek in the vicinity of the East Tasman Drive overcrossing. There is no parking, however, on Tasman Drive. Cisco has given us permission to use the lots for their buildings #12 and #13, either 400 E. Tasman Drive or 3675 Cisco Way. From there, walk East on East Tasman Drive to the entry for the Coyote Creek Trail. We'll have signs up.
