About IHSD, Inc. - Head Start / Early Head Start

Location:

1265 Mission Road, South San Francisco, CA 94080, US

Mission Statement

IHSD's mission is to maximize and enhance the health, safety, productivity, and self-sufficiency of infants, children, and their families as members of a diverse society through the provision of comprehensive child development programs and supportive services, innovative training, and research.

Description

At IHSD, we know that families on the San Francisco Peninsula face an enormous challenge in finding affordable child care programs that provide a quality learning environment. Living in one of the most expensive counties in California, families in San Mateo County are often displaced from child care because of its cost, or are forced to choose low-quality programs. Nonetheless, research has continually demonstrated that quality child development programs have a significant impact on a child's chances of future success both in and out of school. Studies show that children who attend a quality child care or early education program do better at reading and math, are more likely to graduate high school, and are less likely to become involved in crime. That is why IHSD is committed to providing quality child development services.

A non-profit organization, IHSD provides comprehensive child development services for children from birth through five years throughout San Mateo County. Through our child care centers, family child care homes, and home-visiting programs we offer early education and development services that are built upon the needs of the local children, families, and communities. Moreover, IHSD's services establish a foundation for children and families to achieve their fullest potential and effectively contribute to a changing society. We deliver high quality services through our caring and creative staff who are committed to advancing and expanding their expertise and skill base.
