Bring your business team to volunteer in September 2019! Each September, the Business Volunteer Impact Program (formerly Corporate Volunteer Week) provides an easy and unique way for businesses to strengthen their community involvement and increase employee engagement, while helping nonprofits in their community.

How does it work? Nonprofits in Alameda and Contra Costa counties need your team:

The majority of projects are ½ day in length, and many projects are offered on multiple days. Your team of 6-50 (or more) employees can review the projects, and then select project(s) via our web portal. Project descriptions will provide location, times, parking, tasks, and details needed to select a suitable project for your team. Select one or pick multiple projects for your team throughout the week. Registration begins in July, and projects take place from September 9 - October 5, 2019. Reply to this listing to get more info!

Some examples of projects from past years:
· Preschool art day help
· Park/open space cleanup
· Animal shelter event prep
· Prepare/serve shelter meals
· Thrift store merchandising
· Assemble tech learning kits
· Paint classrooms
· Recess play at elementary school
· Mock interviews
· BTS backpack distribution
· Reorganize/inventory storage space
· Sort & pack food at food bank
· many more!

Ready to give back? Teams interested in participating in 2019 are requested to pre-register for updates and receive first look registration link via email when the portal opens July 22, 2019. Questions? Email us at BVIP@crisis-center.org or call 925-472-5768.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Contra Costa Crisis Center is to keep people alive and safe, help them through crises, and provide or connect them with culturally relevant resources in the community.

Description

Every day our professional staff and award-winning volunteers talk with people who are abused, depressed, grieving, suicidal, homeless, and mentally ill. We also provide ongoing grief counseling, support groups, and 211 resource referral and information. Our programs have expanded to include Corporate Caring Volunteer Week for business teams to give back in the community, and the Share the Spirit holiday grant making project.

We are committed to making our services accessible and relevant to people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. We hire diverse staff, recruit and train a diverse pool of volunteers, and ensure that most outreach materials are bilingual. Many members of our staff speak Spanish, and we subscribe to a teleinterpreter service in order to assist callers in additional languages. Staff have written and published articles on the value of cultural competency.
