Make A Connection-Become a Hospice Volunteer

Are you looking for ways to make meaningful connections in YOUR community? Do you have a strong pull to support patients, families and families of choice who are living with a terminal diagnosis? Our hospice program is in need of volunteers in the Cambridge, Isanti, East Bethel, Isanti, St. Francis area.

WHAT CAN A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER DO?

  • Companionship
  • Caregiver relief
  • Read, write letters
  • Assist with interviewing and transcribing patients’ life legacy project
  • Engage in patients' hobbies and interests
  • Hand massage
  • Play music or sing
  • Vet to Vet support
  • 11th hour (End of life) support
  • Visit with a certified or registered therapy dog
  • Provide comfort with integrative therapies (reiki, healing touch, hand massage)
  • Administrative support
  • Check in calls

Description

When life expectancy is limited, AccentCare Fairview Hospice staff and volunteers will help patients and caregivers focus on improving the quality of their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care. We bring these services to the familiar setting of patient's own homes whenever possible. The same kind of care may also be given at a long-term care site, a group home, an assisted living site or a residential hospice.
