Work with children to create unique bird-themed crafts or play a simple game during our special event weekends.
This position is monthly.
Days needed: One Saturday or Sunday a month, occasional Monday holiday, August -May.
Number of hours required: 4 hours per day
Specific time/ shift required: 10:30 am - 3:30 pm
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Volunteers work in pairs with children of all ages to create the craft designed and prepared by the National Aviary.
Volunteer may run a children’s game like Simon Says or our Eggstravaganza Egg Matching game.
Qualifications:
Must be able to use scissors, glue stick, tempera paint, paper punches etc.
Must enjoy working with children, have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Requirements:
Be at least 16 years old.

Enjoy interacting with the general public.
Attend new Volunteer Orientation.
Commit to a minimum of 35 hours of service.

America's bird zoo is located in Pittsburgh, PA and fully accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The National Aviary is the only non-profit, free-standing indoor facility in the U.S. which is wholly dedicated to avian exhibition, education, conservation, and the development and practice of leading-edge avian medicine. Our diverse collection consists of approximately 500 birds of 150 species from six continents.
