Mission Statement
The mission of Bon Secours Health System is to bring compassion to health care and to be good help to those in need, especially the poor and dying. As a system of caregivers, we commit ourselves to help bring people and communities to health and wholeness as part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
Description
Open Arms Hospice is a type of end-of-life care that is palliative in nature (meaning to make comfortable) allowing the patient to die peacefully and comfortably in a home or homelike setting. Open Arms Hospice began as St. Francis Hospice, admitting our first two patients in July of 1991. In 2005, Greenville Hospital System and Bon Secours St. Francis Health System identified the growing need for hospice care. Embracing the strengths of both programs, Greenville Hospital System gifted its hospice program to St. Francis and thus formed Open Arms Hospice, a ministry of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. The name of St. Francis Hospice officially changed their name in July of 2006. The two systems came together as one to help with the operation of the "McCall Hospice House." On July 19, 2007 Open Arms Hospice received their first patient to the new McCall Hospice House. This is a 30 bed facility located in Simpsonville.
