Goldensun is looking for local community members to serve as a board member for this 501C3 nonprofit organization in Glendale, Arizona. Board meetings occur monthly, usually on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM. The board currently has seven members and is looking to expand up to nine. Board members serve three-year renewable terms.
Duties of the board
a. Adopting, monitoring, evaluating and revisiting statements of vision and mission.
b. Developing and evaluating long and short-term strategic plans
c. Supporting and evaluating the work of the Executive Director
d. Adopting, monitoring, and revising long and short-term financial plans, including the annual budget.

Description
Goldensun Peace Ministries, located in Glendale, Arizona is a faith-based community with a mission for serving adults with developmental disabilities capable of living independently with the support of services and staff assistance. Goldensun is licensed through the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES)/Division of Developmental Disabilities as a provider of Individually Designed Living Arrangements. Currently, Goldensun operates five homes serving 15 members, with a sixth home ready to open. Each member of our community shares a home with one to three other adults with developmental disabilities while enjoying his or her private room. Living nearby (like a college environment) to each other, members can share the use of vehicles, and enjoy life together, much like a college community. A typical week for our members includes outings to bowling, Special Olympics training and competitive nights, church Services and dinner, birthday parties or barbeques, sharing in movie and popcorn night and more.
