Clay County Humane Society has many types of help with daily activities required to run a not for profit Animal rescue. We are a no kill facility and have existed here in Clay County since 1957. Volunteer opportunities expand beyond just daily cleaning.....which we do need volunteers for! However, we also need volunteers to help with less physical tasks. Answering the phones during open hours and taking messages, sorting of newspapers and donations, walking our shelter dogs to give them much needed exercise and many other lighter duty tasks. Those that have the skills of a good handyman can help with minor building repairs. If you possess skills in grant writing, fundraising or other business experience those can be helpful as well. We work 7 days a week 365 days a year. Even on holidays the animals have to be taken care of and volunteers are a critical part of what we do. Being involved in animal rescue is fun, rewarding and never boring!
