We take frequent trips down to Ellos Son La Razon, our sister shelter in Ensenada, and rescue a group of dogs that we house post-trip at Jay Bee's Kennels in Spring Valley before they go to their foster homes. We now rent kennels on a monthly basis and will be using them consistently for our rescues. We need help here on a regular basis, but will only be bringing up about 5 dogs at a time to keep it manageable (as opposed to the huge groups we have brought back in the past). The TAP Care Team will work directly with the Care Lead (the amazing Taylor!) - feeding, bathing, cleaning kennels, administering meds, and hanging with the fur babies post-rescue missions. We have recently started utilizing an awesome schedule software called Sling, and it has really helped us streamline our entire kennel process. Once they've joined, volunteers are able to take available shifts (morning or evening), as well as see the entire schedule planned out. Care Team volunteers MUST utilize Sling, as that is the only way we know that a shift is covered. If no one shows up for their shift, or a shift doesn't get signed up for, then our rescues don't get fed or medicated, which we can NOT allow to happen - this role is crucial for our rescue. We are now asking that Care Team members make one 2 hour shift (either morning or evening) commitment each week. This is the only way to ensure that our pups receive the proper care, and prevent our seasoned Care Team from having to pick up every shift and do it all by themselves. We always need 2 volunteers for each shift, as doing it all alone is very overwhelming. This is definitely one of our most hands-on volunteer experiences, and there is room to grow!

Mission Statement

The Animal Pad is a non profit, all breed dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our ultimate goal is to build, operate and maintain a no-kill animal sanctuary. This would be the model to expand into other cities, and help others who would like to create similar sanctuaries. Our current focus is rescuing dogs from the streets of Mexico . We get them the vet care they need, find foster homes, rehab and facilitate adoptions into loving homes.

Description

Here at TAP, we give voice to the voiceless and our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find them the best homes possible.

The Animal Pad was founded in 2010 and we are 100% Volunteer Run and Donation Based. We rescue dogs primarily off the streets of Mexico. In addition to rescuing, we have an activism arm called TAPACT where we bring the Community together to tackle issues that affect dogs in hopes to evoke permanent change. Here at TAP, we give voice to the voiceless and our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find them the best homes possible.
