ORGANIZATION: New Castle County Volunteer Services

The New Castle County Farmers' Market Program is looking for committed volunteers to help in all markets. The Farmer's Markets allows residents access to local produce. It allows families to enjoy a day out exploring the markets and its offerings. The markets are held weekly at different locations. All locations and timings are listed below. Volunteers are needed primarily to help with set up to get the market ready for opening or breakdown at closing. Please see below for individual timings.

CAROUSEL PARK FARMERS' MARKET:

  • Every Friday from May 3 to October 25. The market is open from 2 to 6pm (rain or shine).
  • Minimum age to volunteer: 14.
  • Help needed at: 12:30 to 2pm: Help vendors set up their canopies
  • Address: Carousel Park is at 3700 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. The park is located in the Pike Creek area.
  • Volunteers should be familiar with practices of providing a high level of customer service.
ROUTE 9 FARMERS' MARKET:
  • Every Wednesday from June 5 to October 2. The market is open from 3 to 7pm (rain or shine).
  • Minimum age to volunteer: 14.
  • Help is needed at the following times:
    • 2 to 3pm: Help with set, preparation for the opening of market, placement of signage before market opens, assisting vendors with set up of market stalls - minimum one volunteer.
    • 6 to 7pm: Help with takedown/closure of market - minimum one volunteer.
  • Address: The Route 9 Library and Innovation Center is located on Route 9 just north of Route 295 as you travel north toward Wilmington.
  • Volunteers should be familiar with practices of providing a high level of customer service.
WESTSIDE FARMERS' MARKET:
  • Every Thursday from June 6 to October 3. The market is open from 4 to 7pm (rain or shine).
  • Minimum age to volunteer: 14.
  • Help is needed at the following times:
    • 3 to 7 pm: Help with set up, help while market is open and breakdown at close.
  • Address: The Westside Farmers' Market is located at Cool Spring Park on 10th & Van Buren Streets, Wilmington
  • Volunteers should be familiar with practices of providing a high level of customer service.
GLASGOW PARK FARMERS' MARKET:
  • Every Friday from from June 7 to October 25. The market is open from 3 to 7pm (rain or shine).
  • Minimum age to volunteer: 14.
  • Help is needed at the following times:
    • 9:30am to noon: Help put up signage (vols with cars needed)
    • 1 to 3pm: Help set up for the market
    • 3 to 7pm: Help run the market
    • 7 to 8:30 pm: Help close up and take down signage (vols with cars needed)
  • Address: Glasgow Park is on Route 40 at the corner of Route 896. The Bank Barn is on the west end of the park.
  • Volunteers should be familiar with practices of providing a high level of customer service.
