Imagine you could add another member to your family. A person who has lived in another country. A person who speaks another language. A person who sees the world in a different way than you. A person who wants to be your new brother or sister. It’s possible when you volunteer as a host family for an AFS exchange student.

Students from AFS Intercultural Programs come from more than 60 countries to experience life in America with families just like yours. You’ll learn about your culture, and more deeply appreciate your own. Go to https://www.afsusa.org/host-family/get-started/ to get started. Sign up to transform lives today!

Students arrive on August 7 th and depart in June. The International Students are here to attend our high schools and learn our culture. You can volunteer host for a school year or a semester. Now is the time to sign up. August is coming fast!

Mission Statement

AFS-USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.

Description

AFS-USA honors the legacy of its founders-volunteer WWI and WWII American Field Service ambulance drivers-who emerged from the wars with a bold mission: to help prevent future conflict through educational and cross-cultural exchanges.

More than 70 years later, the AFS Mission continues to respond to the needs of an increasingly complex world, offering programs abroad in more than 50 countries and hosting international students from more than 80 countries. True to the spirit of our founders, these life-changing intercultural learning programs are made possible by the dedicated work of AFS Volunteers-more than 4,400 in the U.S. and over 50,000 worldwide.
