During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Come be a part of this iconic Cincinnati event. You will gaze in wonderas thousands of butterflies flutter through our tribute to the Indonesian island of Bali inside our conservatory! Volunteers at Krohn serve important roles during this time. These roles include monitoring and catching butterflies by being a door guard or welcome ambassador! Volunteers staff the entrance and exit doors in the butterfly room. They provide procedural information to incoming visitors, hand out cards and brochures, catch butterflies (if needed), and examine exiting guests to ensure they are clean of butterflies. This position is fully inside the conservatory. You'll learn quickly how to use a butterfly net to catch escaping critters! This position does require prolonged standing and the opening of doors. Dates are broken into 3 shifts per day.
If you are looking for a simple & fun volunteer experience, look no further. In compliance with COVID guidelines, all guests, volunteers, and staff must wear a face covering. Currently, Krohn's capacity is set at 40 visitors per hour. Temperatures will be taken upon entry. Any person with a temperature over 100.4° will not be permitted entry. Volunteers will have hand sanitizer & cleaning wipes at their station. Volunteers will be given breaks during their shift.
Our hours have changed since previous Butterfly Shows. We will stay open until 8:00PM during this season, which means that time slots for volunteer hours have changed. You must be 14+ to volunteer. If you are under 18 years old- a guardian consent form will be emailed to you- it must be signed & turned in upon your arrival. As a non-profit establishment, we rely heavily on volunteer staff. Without volunteers, the butterfly shows would NOT be possible. As appreciation, all who dedicate their time will receive 2 free tickets to come back and enjoy the show!
