Volunteer Curatorial Internship Program 2020

Intern Position Title: Curatorial Intern
Time Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours and 2 days per week (Tuesday through Friday) with an 8 - 12 week commitment. Flexible schedule available upon request.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Curator, the MOLAA Curatorial Intern will assist the Curatorial/Exhibitions Department in the research, planning, installation, and deinstallation of four upcoming exhibitions and assisting with daily curatorial tasks.
The MOLAA Curatorial Intern will be assigned a key project to be completed by the end of their internship.
Training: The intern will be given on-the-job training for this position, provided instructions for specific assignments, establishing objectives and setting deadlines.
Duties:
- Assist the Chief Curator in researching, planning and coordinating exhibit installations
- Provide support with project management including coordination of staff, artists and vendors through MOLAA exhibitions scheduled to open between January- April, 2020
- Provide logistical support, contact and correspond with artists, and develop and translate exhibition text panels
- Handling and installing works of art
- Help facilitate workshops when needed
Qualifications:
- Interest in museums and contemporary Latin American art
- Spanish language preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to take direction and work independently and with others
- Dependable and consistent
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Importance of job to the organization’s purpose: By assisting the Curatorial department, the MOLAA Curatorial Intern will provide MOLAA with the assistance needed to develop stimulating exhibition projects that will engage diverse audiences.

Description
The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) is the only musuem in the western United States that exclusively features contemporary Latin American fine art. Since its inception in November of 1996, MoLAA has grown tremendously in terms of its physical space, the services that it offers to the community, its educational programs and special events and the importance of the exhibits presented.
