ORGANIZATION: Green Kirkland Partnership

Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of Juanita Bay Park. Volunteers will spend the day participating in restoration activities which may include removing non-native invasive plants like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas, and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience necessary and all tools/gloves are provided!

This event will be led by volunteer Green Kirkland Stewards

What to bring:

* Closed Toed Shoes Required (ex: tennis shoes, sneakers or boots but no sandals)
* Clothes that can get dirty * Raingear * Warm Layers * Long Pants/Long Sleeves
* Full water bottle & Snacks
* Tools, training and gloves are provided

Youth Volunteering: Volunteers age 14-17 attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to the event with them. Volunteers younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Where to meet: The volunteer event will start inside the park. From the main parking lot, walk into the park past the kiosk and the restrooms. When you reach the main lower pathway go left and then turn right towards the boardwalk. You will see the event leads near the picnic table.

Parking: Parking is available in the parking lot and along the street.

Description

The Green Kirkland Partnership is an alliance between the City of Kirkland, nonprofit partners, businesses and the community to restore almost 500 acres of natural parkland in the City. The majority of the restoration efforts are accomplished by our dedicated volunteers. These volunteers may join us just one time or volunteer again and again. It takes everyone to restore our natural areas!
