If you love reading and working with children, then Turning the Page's community nights are for you! The theme for this night will be "Summer Learning". We will be explaining what "summer slide" is and its effect on student achievement, identifying educational experiences that help to prevent summer slide, and preparing a summer slide prevention tool kit that will allow families to pinpoint specific academic needs for their student and use workshop resources at home.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- working registration table
- setting up classrooms
- supporting staff in student workshops

Turning the Page is an education nonprofit engaging public school families for student success. We connect parents and other caring family members with teachers, school administrators, and communities to ensure that all students, regardless of income or home neighborhood, are fully supported in their education.
Description
Since 1998, Turning the Page has become a leader in family engagement, providing thousands of families with the supports, skills, and resources they need to best support their children's learning at home and at school, form positive relationships with their children's teachers, and become leaders in their school communities. Turning the Page currently partners with schools in Ward 7 and Ward 8 of Washington, DC.
