BOARD TREASURER
POSITION DESCRIPTION
MISSION:NFFTY advances and connects talented young filmmakers worldwide. We seek to disrupt systems of inequity in the film/media arts industry. Founded to address discrimination against young film professionals, we celebrate and elevate work by women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other young persons from traditionally marginalized communities at a crucial stage in their emergence as an artist and storyteller. We ensure that emerging filmmakers are represented and given a platform to share their perspectives.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of NFFTY/The Talented Youth’s overall fiscal health, and proper documentation of the organization’s financial history for institutional records. The Treasurer takes ownership of guiding the other Board members through financial reports and analyses necessary to help the organization make best fiduciary decisions on behalf of the organization. The Treasurer works with NFFTY’s Executive Director and Accountant to ensure proper internal controls are followed to maintain integrity and protect the organization and its assets.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and present financial reports to full Board at monthly meetings
- When the opportunity arises, work with Executive Director and Board to develop committees that support finance
- Work with Executive Director and Accountant to properly track revenues and expenses for the organization
- Oversee Executive Director’s and Accountant’s preparing and filing of annual 990 report for IRS
- Work with Executive Director when necessary to prepare and explain budgets for grant applications and new projects/programs for the organization, both to internal and external partners
- When necessary, work with Board and Executive Director to analyze impact of expenditures and revenues unplanned outside of annual budget parameters
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS AS BOARD MEMBER
- Each term of service for the NFFTY Board is two years in length.
- All Board Members are expected to make a financial gift that is meaningful to them. Board Members indicate this amount annually on the Board Pledge Form.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software
- Understanding of how to analyze and explain cash flow, P&L, balance sheet, and other financial reports
- Experience managing a budget, with a preference toward 501(c)3 nonprofit administration experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP and other accounting best practices
- Interest in film, film festivals, and/or filmmaking
- Highly organized and detail oriented with attention to accuracy
TIME COMMITMENT
To start immediately, as soon as is reasonable. Estimated time commitment 5-10 hours a month, inclusive of general obligations as member of NFFTY Board of Directors. The Board meets every 2nd Wednesday from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Board meets via Zoom, position can work remotely.

Description
The Talented Youth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization that was founded in 2007 with NFFTY (National Film Festival for Talented Youth) as its flagship program.
NFFTY has grown into the world’s largest film festival for emerging directors. Each year the festival showcases films by directors 24 and under.
NFFTY & The Talented Youth support young filmmakers by offering professional level workshops year-round. In addition NFFTY.org hosts filmmaker resources, tips, news and information.
Within NFFTY lies a creative production company, NFFTY Creative, that connects brands with emerging talent to produce original content.
