Caring for Kids Dance Program
The joy of dance

Volunteers are needed for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Caring for Kids Dance Program, which meets on Saturdays from 3:30-4:30 pm at the Menomonee Club in Chicago.

THE CARING FOR KIDS DANCE PROGRAM is designed to encourage movement, improve posture, and increase selective motor control of the limbs while promoting socialization and artistic expression for kids living with a physical disability ages 7-17. Techniques taught are traditional ballet movements.

The program meets for 5 classes per session. Next session starts April 27 and ends June 8.
Following session dates: JUN 29-JUL 27; SEP 14-OCT 12; NOV 9-DEC 14.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITLIES: For this program it is preferred that volunteers have dance experience. Volunteers should also be able to commit to each class within a 5 week session. Volunteers will work with participants who have a physical impairment throughout the duration of class. Volunteers will assist participants with their positioning, following instructions, staying on task, and having fun!

Caring for Kids is a dynamic program for youth ages 7-17, who has a primary physical disability. The Caring for Kids Program offers year-round adaptive sports, recreational activities, special events, and social programming. All programs are designed to foster a positive quality of life for participants through promoting physical fitness, independence, socialization, activity, and adaptive programming resources.
