Seeking volunteers for exciting summer program! This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone, but would be a particularly great experience for those interested in occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology or social work. Growing Roots is a non profit organization located in Grand Rapids, MI that utilizes nature-based therapeutic activities (animal assisted therapy and horticulture therapy) to help individuals with developmental and/or cognitive challenges reach their full potential. The program will take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June 10 to August 16, 2019 (9AM-11AM). Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for 3 or more sessions; however, this is not a requirement. Please see the post for spring dates if you are interested, but unavailable June 10-August 16. Experience is not required, as training is provided. If you are interested in enriching the lives of others and also enriching your own spring, please visit www.wegrowroots.org to find a volunteer application. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at Jessica@wegrowroots.org.

Mission Statement
"Growing Roots’ mission is to provide a therapeutic, nature-based learning and working facility that allows all individuals to live a meaningful, satisfying life and to reach their highest potential."
Description
There is an immense need for persons with developmental and cognitive challenges to have a place where they can stay active, gain life skills, find meaning and build self-esteem through working and learning in a dynamic, safe and motivating environment. We are confident that for many, this can be accomplished through interaction with nature and through the care of crops and animals to produce valuable resources for the community.
