Peer to Peer Instructor
ORGANIZATION: NAMI Mid-Ohio
Please visit the new page to apply.
We have a need for instructors for NAMI's Peer to Peer course. If you have personally experienced a mental health condition and are wondering how you could share your experience to help others, this opportunity may be for you.
NAMI Peer to Peer is a unique 10-week course for people living with mental illness. The course is designed to help anyone experiencing mental health challenges achieve and maintain recovery. Over the 10 weeks of the course, participants learn more about mental health conditions, practice coping skills and create a relapse prevention plan.
Peer-to-Peer instructors do not need to have previous teaching experience! We will provide course lectures, activities, materials and training. The main qualification for teaching the course is your personal experience. As a Peer-to-Peer instructor, your job isn't to be an expert in mental health but rather an "emotional tour guide" that can help participants navigate their own recovery and direct them to resources.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Peer-to-Peer instructor, please contact Sarah Hyatt at shyatt@namiofdel-mor.org or 740-815-1767.
