During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Help us sort books! We'd love your help. Our mission is to provide books to children who may not have access to books in their homes. Having access to books is crucial to the education of children. We collect gently used and new children's books from our community and then get them right back into the hands of children who may not have any in their home. Our volunteers sort the books based on reading levels. We sticker them and box them for agencies, food pantries and non-profits.
We only allow one person/family per shift. Masks will be worn and we will be working 6 feet from one another to protect each other from Covid.
Parents of small children are welcome. We'll keep the volunteer shift to one hour. Small children love to put stickers on books and love to see all of their favorite books.
Feel free to bring gently used and new books with you! Collect from friends and family too. And don't forget to follow us on Facebook. We'd love for you to share our information with everyone you know.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

The Indy Book Project provides new and used books to children in the Indianapolis area. All children need books in their home to thrive. The Indy Book Project wants all children in the Indy area to have access to books. Books change lives. Having access to books in the home is critical to ensure success in school for children.
We have given away over 30,000 children's books in the past two years. We are a small new non-profit in the Indy area. We'd love your help. Currently, our biggest need is volunteers to help us sort the books. We sort books based on grade levels, sticker them and put them into boxes. The boxes are then delivered to area agencies, food pantries and non-profits.
We also welcome other expertise. We welcome volunteers with web design experience, writing, fundraising, etc.
Do you know of a location where the Indy Book Project could safely store books and welcome volunteers? Please share ideas with Gina at indybookproject@gmail.com.
Do you know of a school, doctor's office, agency, daycare, food pantry, homeschooling family, neighborhood center, etc that needs children's books? Please have them reach out to Gina at indybookproject@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest in the Indy Book Project. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
We'll work with your schedule.
