The role of the driver is to arrange to arrange the hire of a van as needed and to drive to collect tools from our collectors in Scotland and also members of the public when they have a large load and deliver the tools to the Cowdenbeath Refurbishment Centre.
This is a role which can be flexible to the needs of the volunteer and those from where they are collecting as you will have access to the Cowdenbeath centre to drop off the tools.
Tasks may include
Hiring and driving a Van to collect loads of tools from our collectors in Scotland and from members of the Public who have large quantities of tools.
Helping load the van at the visits and with the loading and unloading of the van at the refurbishment centre
Carrying out relevant pre and post trip checks and recording in the journey log
You need to have a friendly and welcoming personality and be willing to spend long periods working alone. You need to be a competent driver ideally with a clean licence (although some minor motoring offences may be acceptable) and we will normally ask a new driver to undergo a driving assessment. You need to enjoy driving and be happy to travel long distances. You need to be reasonably physically fit for either role as the loads of tools can be heavy and able to accept responsibility as you will have access to locking and unlocking the Cowdenbeath centre to deliver tools
We provide a full induction and a volunteer handbook on starting. The induction will include all van checks. We will normally ask all new drivers to go out at least once with an experienced driver. You will have a named contact within TWAM for any questions or problems and further training can be provided as required. You will also be given a TWAM Polo Shirt and Fleece to wear.
From the role, you will gain a warm satisfaction at the difference you are making to peoples lives. You will also have opportunities if you wish to learn new skills. We will provide a reference if required for a future employer or other organisation

Mission Statement
We do this because we want to support local people supporting their own communities through sustainable livelihood creating projects. We believe there is dignity through work and the ability to provide for yourself and your family. We believe entire communities can be transformed through training and the provision of tool kits and equipment. As a Christian Charity, we believe that God's heart reaches out to the poor and that He calls us to follow His example. Our motivation is to work with faith and non-faith based organisations to be a refuge for the poor, a safe place to find support, hope and dignity through the provision of tools and equipment
Description
The charitable work of Tools with a Mission is to collect unwanted tools, refurbish them, sort them into trade kits and send them across the world for livelihood creation. We send around 20 containers filled with over 300 tonnes of tools every year. To do this we rely on a national volunteer workforce and welcome people of all ages and abilities and of any faith and no faith
