Details
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join us as we learn about identifying, protecting, and planting native trees of Ohio. Start the day with a brief lesson about the native trees we have in our area and how we can protect them. We will then be going on a tree identification hike along multiple areas of our 122 acre non-profit farm along with placing identification signs on trees in the process. After the hike, the Taking Root 'Trees Make a Difference Team' will lead a brief lecture on why trees are important and demonstrate tree planting on designated areas of the farm. Light snacks and refreshments will be offered. *Please wear clothing appropriate for hiking and getting a little dirty.
How This Helps Our CommunityThrough this program we hope to educate volunteers on the role native trees play in our ecosystem and the benefit to humans. They will also learn why their tree planting efforts make a difference for our environment. This also helps support our mission here at the Farm to educate about environment, sustainability, nutrition, and agriculture. After the event, the volunteers can discuss ways to become advocates for reforestation using native trees and also how to plant trees in their own homes and communities.
If interested, please sign - up through All For Good at https://www.allforgood.org/ projects/6QyrVd8Z. Thank you so much for helping! We look forward to working with you then.
