The Fundraising Coordinator is an important role with the Board of Trustees that will help enable the Pride Center of New Jersey (PCNJ) to attract financial support and sponsorships to maintain and grow operations as an all-volunteer non-profit community center.

PCNJ is now looking for committed individuals with previous fundraising experience to help organize and lead our Fundraising initiatives and events as we celebrate our 25 th year serving the community, and also to set funding plans in place for the future of the organization.

Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and coordination for fundraising, grants, and sponsorships to provide an institutionalized means of financial support for the Pride Center of New Jersey operations and growth. This includes raising the awareness of the organization’s mission, goals, and financial needs; and developing funding plans, campaigns, and the (individual and corporate) donor and sponsor funding to meet the financial needs of the organization.

Responsibilities include:
 Establishing fundraising needs and goals
 Creating fundraising and sponsorship plans, campaigns, and packages
 Working with grant writers or researching and pursuing grant opportunities
 Identifying and pursuing prospective funders, sponsors and business partners
 Helping to promote sponsorship packages by sourcing suitable organizations, making contact with the appropriate people and securing financial support
 Providing donor communications, recognition and stewardship
 Helping to raise awareness and promote the organization’s mission, goals and financial needs
 Ensuring that funds requested are consistent with organizational goals and operating principles
 Helping to plan and organize fundraising events, including special donor recognition events
 Identifying promotional and marketing needs and helping to create promotional materials
 Preparing periodic fundraising status reports
 Assist with general fundraising activities as needed

Qualifications:
 Commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community
 Fundraising and fundraising event planning experience
 Self-motivated, works well independently and as part of a team
 Effective communication and interpersonal skills
 Ability to build strong relationships with new people and organizations
 Enthusiastic and persuasive 'selling/promoting’ skills
 Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office and simple database applications
 Previous work or volunteer experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential

The mission of the Pride Center of New Jersey is to provide a safe and welcoming place for all in the LGBTQ+ community, especially our youth, to come for support, education/health education, and social opportunities to help grow in self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-esteem, in order to live healthier and happier lives with equality and social justice. We provide comprehensive programming and resources to foster the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals and serve to normalize their lives and existence in a safe and supportive environment - when some are perhaps not even welcome or accepted in their own families. We have helped save lives by not only giving hope, but also happiness as an alternative to living in secrecy, shame, or worse, giving up on life.

Description

The Pride Center of New Jersey is now in its 25th year serving the LGBTQ+ community as an active vibrant center. Our doors are open to the greater New Jersey area. We have over a thousand visitors per year with a wide range of active participants attending any of our 400 meetings and activities, including: support, social, and special interest group meetings; programs for youth and young adults; and cultural and fun activities/events for all.

The Pride Center of New Jersey is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operating solely on memberships and donations from the public and supporters of the community. All funds and sponsorships received go directly to benefit our LGBTQ+ youth and other programs.

The Pride Center of New Jersey, Inc. has been fulfilling the support and social needs of thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people since first opening its doors in 1994. A fast-growing community center located in New Brunswick, The Pride Center provides "safe space" for the gay, lesbian, bi and trans community: a place to learn about our community from a vast array of resources, a place to socialize and meet new friends, a place to gain acceptance and understanding of your gender and sexual identity in an comfortable setting. The Pride Center offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and a knowledgeable and helpful volulunteer staff.
